Three years ago this month, Valpak fundamentally changed the way we work, beginning in our IT organization and spreading out across the rest of the enterprise this year. We have learned what it means to be an Agile enterprise by embracing the values and principles of the Agile Manifesto in everything we do here at work and for some of us in our personal lives too. We also practice what we preach by applying Scrum and Kanban practices to teams, departments, and projects across the enterprise.
It’s been a busy third year for Agile at Valpak.
- We rolled out Agile to our entire company with great results and now you can find Kanbans around every corner.
- Six Valpak employees have earned their PMI-ACP credential and two more are planned before the end of the year.
- We migrated to Target Process as our Scrum and Kanban tool of choice.
- Along with help from our friends at AgileThought, we organized and hosted the first ever Agile Open Florida to a crowd of almost 150 people in June. This event led to greater coordination and collaboration across Agile user groups in Florida, like Agile Orlando, Agile Gainesville and South Florida Agile Association (SFAA).
- With my partner-in-crime, Ryan Dorrell (CTO of AgileThought), we grew the Tampa Bay Agile Meetup group by over 600%, with almost 700 members.
- We learned that Valpak’s Agile story will appear in a textbook edition of a book by Charles G. Cobb. Our 20-page case study first appeared in the book “Managed Agile Development: Making Agile Work for Your Business” in 2013.
- We continue to bring companies through our workspace for Agile tours, most recently hosting Catalina Marketing and Vology. The number of companies we’ve consulted with on Agile by email or phone is too numerous to list.
- I (yes, me!) was selected to serve on the board of the Agile Alliance from 2015 through 2017, although my work has already begun.
